The Zionist Federation of Australia and the Zionist Council of Victoria have joined in the backlash against a campaign organised by an affiliate of The Jewish Community Council of Victoria to launch a boycott against Israeli goods manufactured in the settlements.

Philip Chester, President of the ZFA joined his ZCV counterpart Sam Tatarka in saying: “The Zionist movement in Australia is appalled by the Australian Jewish Democratic Society’s campaign which encourages people not to buy products produced in Israeli communities beyond the Green Line.  The idea that a Jewish organisation that purports to be a part of our community supports (even a part of) the insidious campaign of delegitimisation being waged by Israel’s enemies is not only repugnant and immoral but unfathomable.

The leaders said  “Campaigns that work to deepen the divide rather than encouraging mutual respect and recognition delay rather than hasten the true and lasting peace for which we all hope”.

    Nathan,

The “so called” Palestinians of today should get down on their hands and knees and thank Allah that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are not located next door to Russia or any other country for that matter, otherwise parts of both territories would long ago have been turned into car parks.

Instead, they have a Jewish country as their neighbour, a country which up to now has indulged these peoples claims and gone out of its way to exercise the utmost restraint in spite of deadly provocation. A Jewish country that is still prepared to meet with these people in good faith despite the fact that they teach their children from kindergarten age that Jews as the offspring of pigs and apes.

The facts are that Arabs have, time and again been offered very generous terms to end this conflict but they choose not to do so. They will continue putting up proposals they know Israel cannot adopt unless it wants to commit suicide. They want the lot and are clearly aiming to bleed Israel to death, concession after concession and they gain sustenance from useful idiots (mainly in the West) who have bought their narrative.

I urge you to read my letter (see Readers’ Letters) titled: “It’s time this Peace Process came to and end”. Putting politics aside however, below is a short but significant bit of history representing the true narrative.

In biblical times, all of what is now Israel and the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) was Jewish. When the Romans conquered the territory they named the entire area “Philistina” in order to rub salt into the wounds of the defeated Jews by calling the place in honour of their ancient and mortal enemies the Philistines. By doing so, the Romans acknowledged that the owners of the territories were Jews. Down the centuries the name Philistina was anglicised to Palestine.

At the beginning of the 20th Century if one were referred to as a Palestinian, it was automatically implied that he or she was Jewish.

Decades later, Arabs cleverly commandeered the term “Palestinian”. The facts are that Palestine was a land mass finally administered by the British until the 1947 Partition Plan when only a small portion was allocated back to its centuries old rightful owners, the Jewish people. This is why in my opening sentence I referred to “so called” Palestinians of today.

Finally I ask all those who believe the Arab narrative, if there was such a “country” called Palestine, as the Arabs lament was stolen from them by those offspring of pigs and apes, then who were its rulers over the centuries? Was it a Monarchy, Islamic Republic, Dictatorship or what? What currency did they use?

In the letter I referred to above I hope Israel takes unilateral action and once and for all ends it with these people. They’ve had their chance.
It is a hope, but realistically it is more than likely the nonsense will go on and on, ad nauseam.

  2. Nathan says:

With all due respect, one does NOT have to be a self hating Jew to feel strongly that the Settlements and the occupation of the West Bank are harmful to Israels interests..

While I do not support BDS, it is fair I to point out (despite the hopes of many on the right wing of the Zionist movement) that West Bank, is not part of the State of IsraeL according to Israeli Law, l rather it is an “administered territory”………even for the honorable members of the Zionist Federation of Australia.

AJDS are apologists for Arab terror

  4. Gil Solomon says:

The quote “The idea that a Jewish organisation that purports to be part of our community” etc. is a bit misleading. The Jewish community should decide who is a part of it and who is not. Based on the policies of the Australian “Jewish” Democratic Society (AJDS) the community should publicly disavow any relationship with them.
In my mind, the statement more accurately should have read:
“The idea that a purported Jewish organisation that purports to be part of our community” etc.

Who really knows what religious affiliation those who belong to the AJDS are.

I would guess a mixture of anti semitic/anti Israeli:
Self hating Jews, non Jews and those who for purposes of gaining some legitimacy to their cause claim to have a Jewish background, whatever that means.

The bottom line is that this group despises everything Israel stands for and works tirelessly for her downfall.

For this group to be an affiliate of the JCCV is a disgrace and this affiliate status should be terminated immediately and publicly. The AJDS would, in my opinion, be more at home as an affiliate of Hamas.

Does anyone seriously think that an anti Muslim group could ever get affiliate status to one of their mainstream groups?

But with Jews, we tend to be so liberal that anything is possible.
It’s time we wake up from our coma.

  5. Paul Winter says:

I am appalled that the ZFA and the ZCV were so slow in condemning AJDS. I am also appalled that those two leading Zionist groups have failed to (a) call for the JCCV to kick out the AJDS, (b) denounce the AJDS in no uncertain terms (c) called on the Jewish community to dissociate themselves from the .AJDS and its members and (d) issued a public statement declaring that as far as they are concerned the organisation is not recognisibly Jewish and none should take its statements as representing those coming from Jews.

  6. phil says:

    JCCV should kick out AJDS
simple solution – anti-zionists dont belong in a Jewish Council

    • ben E says:

Interesting that you should wish to expel them. The Bund was anti Zionist as are the Neteru Karta, Jews Against Zionism, Jews for a Just Peace, IAJV, Gush Shalom, ICHAD, As were Israel Shahak, Tanya Reinhart and as are Jeff Halper, Raplh Schoenmann, Lenni Brenner, Haim Beersheeth and a sizeable number of Jewish intellectuals and activists. How do the Zionists presume to expel them ?

      • Otto Waldmann says:

        ben,

this is not your problem at all, but you can have, feed and keep with our “blessing” all those you list within the welcoming warmth of your mosque………..
