Yom Kippur message from the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese
I send my warm greetings to everyone marking Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish year.
For people of Jewish heritage and faith, the high holy days are a time of deep reflection and soul-searching. They call for renewal and resolve and offer a reminder of all that is most precious and enduring in Jewish life.
Beloved broadcaster Rachel Kohn AO speaks of her cherished Jewish identity and faith, and of her:
‘deep-seated concern to keep alive the gentle and generous kindness at the heart
of the Biblical tradition, which recognises we are all God’s children and therefore we respond … with forbearance, humility, forgiveness and mercy.’
In living these values and tending these traditions from each generation to the next, Jewish Australians add immeasurably to the richness, the breadth and the strength of our
rich, multicultural and multi-faith country.
I wish you all a blessed Yom Kippur. G’mar chatima tova.
