Yom Ha’azmaut: Sydney celebrates

Members of the political and diplomatic community joined NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Israel’s ambassador to Australia Shmuel Ben-Shmuel at a cocktail party to celebrate the 69th anniversary of  Yom Ha’azmaut, Israel’s Independence Day.

Premier Berejiklian told the guests that today Israel has a population of eight million adding “and that’s eight million victories over this who historically who sought to destroy the Jewish people from Nazi Germany to the pogroms”.

She spoke of the rime in 1948 David Ben-Gurion declared the modern State of Israel which “has fulfilled the dreams of generations”.

Ambassador Shmuel Ben-Shmuel said that Israel’s people had utilised their natural advantage…”their minds”.
