Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara attended the torch-lighting ceremony on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem, to mark Israel’s 71st Independence Day yesterday.

The Netanyahus invited to the ceremony approximately 50 residents from the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip, Holocaust survivor Shaul Lubovitz, who lit one of the torches at Yad Vashem [on Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day], the Fogel family, the Salomon family and Mika Lipsker, who is dealing with cancer and who Sara Netanyahu has accompanied for several years. Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife also hosted former Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes and his partner.

And an Independence Day message for President Reuven Rivlin:
