Wolper researched by alleged Woollahra vandaliser
A Sydney court has been told Mohammed Farhat was looking for the location of Wolper Jewish Hospital before he allegedly went on a vandalising spree in the Sydney suburb of Woollahra.
20-year-old Farhat is alleged to have daubed graffiti on buildings and ten cars and set a vehicle on fire close to the hospital last month.
CCTV captured two people at the scene of the alleged attack. A second man has been arrested.
Farhat was arrested at Sydney Airport before boarding a flight to Bali, four days after the alleged attack. He was charged with 21 offences, including 14 counts of damaging and destroying property.
His barrister, Rebekah Rodger, told the court the flight had been booked for a planned holiday.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that “the court heard forensic evidence linked Farhat and a co-accused to a car used in the attack”.
Rebekah Rodger sought bail for Farhat, but prosecutor Andrew Maldigri told the court that Uber and GPS placed Farhat at the Woollahra location and that he had a Hezbollah tattoo, according to the SMH.
He said: “If someone is as brazen as to get a tattoo of a swastika on their neck it would go toward the risk to the community,” the prosecutor said.
Farhat will return to court in February.
