WIZO NSW’s younger division, Lev Echad, has been launched following a 10-day trip to Israel with nine members of the new group.

Back Row (L-R): Vicki Ryvhcin, Bec Abraham, Dionne Taylor, Tracy Fischl, Karen Bowen, Kelly Sacks Coghlan

Danille Wakerman, Dina Bloom, Rebecca Abraham, Rachelle Petrini, Vicki Ryvchin, Dionne Taylor, Tracy Fischl, Kelly Sacks Coghlan and Karen Bowen  shared a presentation summing up an awe-inspiring trip titled “People. Moments. Stories”.

The women travelled to Israel to learn more about WIZO, which is predominantly volunteer-led and is Israel’s largest welfare agency. WIZO facilitates 800 programs and touches 70,000 lives daily.

In a room filled with close to 200 members of the community, the sold-out event marked the official launch of a younger division for WIZO NSW, Lev Echad, which aims to engage with women in the community aged 35-55.

The event opened with a video that holds huge significance for the women: Israel Eurovision representative Eden Golan, who performed, for the first time ever, the real lyrics to October Rain during a Hostage Family Rally on an evening in Tel Aviv, where the Lev Echad group were present.

As each Lev Echad member shared their stories accompanied by images and videos showcasing their journey, guests were able to connect with each other through powerful storytelling and engaging recounts of their mission to Israel.

Welcoming the crowd was the newly appointed President of Lev Echad, Michelle Falk, who will guide the younger division to new heights as the organisation rolls out a series of engaging events and experiences.

At the event, the WIZO Annual Fundraising Campaign, to be held on Sunday 25 August, was announced. This year’s keynote speakers will include international actor and advocate for Israel, Nate Buzz, digital influencer and champion for calling out antisemitism online Clammy Fraud, emergency nurse at Soroka Hospital, Raya Gal and Alex Ryvchin, Co-CEO of ECAJ.

Only available for Lev Echad members, a private pre-cocktail event with Nate Buzz will be held prior to the major event opening. Tickets will go on sale soon through the WIZO website.
