The UN observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November…a video from Jewish Care.

This observance raises awareness of the continuing toll of gender-based violence around the world.

Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations. Globally, it is estimated that 1 in 3 women will experience physical or sexual abuse in her lifetime.

Jewish Care Victoria is proud to launch the video You Don’t Own Me, created in support of White Ribbon Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Violence against women, including family violence, is a significant public health issue in Australia and around the globe. 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence at some point in their lifetime, and 1 in 4 children have witnessed an incident of family violence.

Family violence affects people from all walks of life, and the Jewish community is no exception. As a leading provider of family violence services for women in our community, Jewish Care is proud to take a stand and say NO to family violence.

No one should have to suffer in silence. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, call our Front Door team on 8517 5999 and ask to speak to a social worker. All enquiries are strictly confidential.

For members of the Sydney community needing help with family violence issues, call Sydney’s JewishCare on 1-300-133-660 or Jewish House on 1-300-544-357.
