It gives me “goose bumps” seeing the Prime Minister arrive in Australia. May this trip advance Israel’s interests in the world and may G-d bless Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Jewish State of Israel.

Yes, welcome Bibi. Whatever your Israeli brand of politics might be, it was a fine thing to hear the press conference conducted by Netanyahu and Malcolm Turnbull on this first day of the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit. Because at last we could sit back and hear Israel’s case put, Israel’s perspective in regard to what is required if there is to be a Palestinian State living beside Israel. In replying to the question that prompted this response, Netanyahu did not evade the issue, but spoke directly to it, in concrete language, firmly and succinctly. If there’s anybody out there who doesn’t understand the perspective he presented, it’s because they don’t want to.

On the other hand, our Jewish leaders who have popped up on ABC news programmes to give the Jewish perspective (an unusual inclusion by said programmes), opposite fierce advocates for the Palestinian cause, have been disappointingly tepid, not making the most of the situation at all. I could have done better myself. It’s more than frustrating – what wasted opportunity.

How wonderful to have a sitting Prime Minister arrive on these shores. Thanks JWire for your speedy bulletin with a smiling PM and the ElAl plane. At a time when so many ill-informed people constantly attack Israel and can see no fault in the Palestinians’ behaviour it’s great that Australia and our PM are supportive.

The Prime Minister of Israel wont be invited to speak to the Commonwealth Parliament during his four day visit as parliament is not sitting this week.
