When three Year 8 boys talk up a 50km day bushwalk together, it is usually just talk. But three boys from Sydney’s Masada College will match their words with action when they walk almost 50km through the Garigal National Park in one day.

Michael Gurevich, Yaron Saks and Eyal Dorfin have embarked upon a strict training schedule to get fit enough for the big day..they will walk to  raise money for the KKL-JNF Kfar-Aza water reclamation project.

This project sets to establish an upgraded system for recycling water for three kibbutzim in the western Negev to allow more than 70 new families to settle there. So on Purim, 24th February the Walk for Hope team as they have called themselves, will start at Cowan at 5am, accompanied by Michael’s dad Vadim Gurevich and travel mostly uphill through the National Park finishing up at St Ives Showground in the evening. They have allowed themselves two check points at Berowra and Bobbin Head to replenish supplies and take short breaks.

Please visit the boys’ website  michaelgurev.wix.com/walkforhope and support their wonderful initiative. Show them that their efforts can make a difference.
