Assistant Commissioner Jeff Pope has called for monthly reports of all incidents and has told the community that police will highlight patterns and provide suitable protection.

The Jewish Community Council of Victoria’s president, John Searle,  welcomed the initiative and said: “This is a great step forward in our relationship with the police. They will now have a much better understanding of the issues we face.”

Last year, there were 97 incidents reported including physical assaults, graffiti, email and mail messages and verbal attacks.

But the community believes there were many unreported incidents. Searle has called upon the community to report all incidents to assist the police in providing the protection they want to provide.

Searle wants incidents reported to the Community Security Group also – their contact number is 9519 8600
