UIA NSW is launching an exciting new division aimed at families with young children ‘UIA YOUNG FAMILIES’.
This innovative project by the United Israel Appeal is driven by the acknowledgment that traditional evening or weekday events are often very restrictive for parents with young children.

Caroline Bolot, Young Families Chair for UIA NSW explained “we watched proudly as the Sydney Jewish community of all ages mobilised to defend Israel during last year’s Gaza operation. We want to keep this momentum alive. So many parents of young children wanting to support Israel just can’t make it to UIA events on a week night. We want to create an opportunity for all young families in our community to come together at a time and a place that suits, to show their ongoing support of Israel… and to teach our next generation the importance of communal engagement with Israel.”

The exciting launch event will be a family-friendly fun day on Sunday May 17 – Yom Yerushalayim!

Kids will be taken on a virtual journey through Israel: from Eilat and the Dead Sea in the South, via the Kotel in Jerusalem and a dance party in Tel Aviv, to a kibbutz in the Galil and Mount Hermon in the North! What an experience – including a petting zoo, climbing slide, beach, live kids’ entertainment, Bedouin tent, photo booth, bungee, Israeli food, ice-cream stand, take-home gifts and more – even possibly a camel or three to ride!

UIA NSW CEO Yair Miller explained “we understand and acknowledge that large sections of our community love Israel and find it difficult to attend regular UIA functions. The UIA is ensuring our next generation of supporters and their young children are given relevant and fun opportunities to show their support.”

The UIA will also be launching a unique project for Young Families to support Youth at Risk in Israel through the Youth Futures program. Youth Futures is a revolutionary one-on-one mentoring programme providing children and youth at risk with comprehensive, tailored intervention enabling them to take their place as independent, productive members of Israeli society. The concept is for families to make a weekly donation, at a suitable time such as prior to lighting Shabbat candles, which will connect the family to this program in Israel in a very tangible manner.
