UIA NSW announces new president at AGM

Bruce Fink has handed over the presidency of the The United Israel Appeal of NSW to Lance Rosenberg at its recent 51st AGM.

Fink  reported on the year that was and thanked his executive, volunteers, sponsors and donors for their unwavering support of Israel through the UIA during his 5 years as President and confidently handed over the reins to Lance Rosenberg.

Fink also warmly welcomed the UIA NSW new Shlichim, Sagi Ben-Yosef and Roni Shorer who are both excited to be representing Israel through Keren Hayesod and working closely with the Sydney Jewish community.

Guest speaker, Jeffrey Goldberg, national Correspondent for the Atlantic Magazine a columnist for Bloomberg View addressed over 200 guests on the short term and long term challenges that Israel faces.

Greg Masel, Director General of KH-UIA and past Shaliach of UIA NSW gave a personal account of the week of Operation Pillar of Defence.  He included extracts from a letter sent to Bruce Fink from Fentahun Assefa-Dawit, recently returned Shaliach of NSW, which highlighted the effects of living under the code red alerts have had on his young family and many Israeli families like theirs.

Bruce Fink was honoured for his dedication, commitment and leadership to the UIA and for his unconditional support of Israel.

Fink was awarded ‘The Louis Klein Award for Outstanding Leadership on behalf of Israel and the Jewish People, the highest award in the UIA NSW, an award only presented in exceptional circumstances.  He was also awarded the Key of Jerusalem, a Keren Hayesod Award, for his outstanding leadership of the UIA and a personal letter from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulating him on his very successful leadership term of the UIA NSW.
