Perth UIA President, Melanie Greenfeld, commended Danny on his meaningful contribution to the organisation. Harold Finger acknowledged his family’s long history of serving the Perth Jewish community saying: “Danny’s grandfather, Cecil, and his great-uncle, Alec, were pioneers for the UIA Perth, as was his highly respected father, Alan. “

Danny Breckler was presented with a certificate from Keren-Hayesod in Jerusalem, recognising his dedication to the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

Finger’s visit to Perth provided a timely opportunity to pay tribute to one of the stalwarts of the NSW UIA community, the late Max Freilich. Melanie provided an engaging biography of the inspirational life and work of Max Freilich, grand-father of Perth’s Rabbi Dovid Freilich.

Harold Finger told J-Wire: “When Max Freilich landed in Fremantle in 1936 n his way to Sydney, members of the Perth community were dockside to greet the passengers in transit. Max Freilich was at the receiving end of the Perth Jewish community’s hospitality…as a guest of Danny Breckler’s grandfather!”

The UIA president gave an update of projects in the South of Israel and of  immigration to Israel, with a projection of close to 30,000 olim expected to arrive this year. The increased numbers make the work of UIA even more critical to the future of Israel.

The evening concluded with a presentation by Irwin Tollman on his recent participation, in the Yom Ha’atzmaut UIA mission in April. He spoke enthusiastically of the wonderful experience he and his wife Roz had had in seeing the life-changing work of the Keren-Hayesod projects.

An interesting and informative property breakfast was held with Harold Finger in his capacity as the Co-Founder and Chairman of Haben Property Group NSW and Gavin Hegney the Executive Chairman and Founder of the Hegney Property Group WA. Both speakers shared some fascinating insights into the retail commercial and residential property markets including their professional forecasts and expectations for the future of these markets.
