Two more Nominations for Perlman
Melbourne author Elliot Perlman, already short-listed for the Miles Franklin Award for his book “The Street Sweeper” has now been nominated for the Australian Book Industry Awards for the same work.
“The Street Sweeper” has scored a nomination in two categories…Literary Fiction Book of the Year 2012 and Book of the Year 2012.
The winners in each category will be announced on May 18 at a gala dinner in Sydney as part of the Sydney Writers’ Festival.
A spokesperson for the organisers told J-Wire: “The winners are voted by an Academy consisting of a panel of 150 booksellers and publishers.”
Elliot Perlman told J-Wire: “It really is a great honour to be shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award in any year. But to be shortlisted for 2 of them for The Street Sweeper this year in particular is really a much greater honour because this has been such a incredibly strong year for Australian publishing.”
