“The Street Sweeper” has scored a nomination in two categories…Literary Fiction Book of the Year 2012 and Book of the Year 2012.

The winners in each category will be announced on May 18 at a gala dinner in Sydney  as part of the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

A spokesperson for the organisers told J-Wire: “The winners are voted by an Academy consisting of a panel of 150 booksellers and publishers.”

Elliot Perlman told J-Wire: “It really is a great honour to be shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award in any year.   But to be shortlisted for 2 of them for The Street Sweeper this year in particular is really a  much greater honour because this has been such a incredibly strong year for Australian publishing.”
