TV Star Don Lane passes away
Don Lane, the lanky Yank, has died in a Jewish care home in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs at the age of 75.
Born Mort Isaacsohn in New York, he brought the taste of the U.S. talk show to Australia.
He was 75.
Lane spent most of his years in Australia in Melbourne where he hosted his TV show on Channel 9 with sidekick Bert Newton.
John Searle, President of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria has fond memories of visiting the studios with a Jewish youth group when he was young and being welcomed by “a very warm Don Lane”.
He started the battle against Alzheimers Disease in 2005 but succumbed today.
