Fifth Jewish MP for Victoria

Melbourne lawyer Jennifer Huppert has become the third current member of parliament in Victoria.She is now actively engaged in State politics having taken the Upper House seat of Southern Metropolitan vacated by its previous representative, Evan Thornley, who has returned to the private sector.  The State Premier, John Brumby, told ABC that  “she has lived in the area all her life and is very active in the Jewish community.”

The new ALP member joins Michael Danby and Mark Dreyfuss who are both ALP members in the Federal parliament and Martin Pakula and Marsha Thompson in State parliament. All are ALP.
