The University of Sydney has responded to the Zionist Federation of Australia’s call for the resignation of Vice Chancellor Mark Scott.

This follows a statement by ZFA president Jeremy Leibler, who said: “Mark Scott has a duty of care to all students. He has failed in this duty, and so must stand down. For weeks, the anti-Israel protesters have called for an intifada and for the ethnic cleansing of Jews. The university has failed to ensure a safe environment for Jewish students and staff.”

A spokesperson for the university responded by telling J-Wire: “We‘re currently negotiating with the students, and our position is very similar to offers made at leading universities from around the world, including Harvard University and the University of Melbourne.

We are absolutely focused on de-escalation and on not fuelling tensions further. We want our campus to remain peaceful and our University activities to continue uninterrupted.

We have been very clear we condemn all forms of racial vilification, including antisemitism and Islamaphobia, and the safety of our community is our absolute top priority at all times.

We will not hesitate to take action if we find there is a breach by a student or a staff member of our bullying, harassment and discrimination policy, or other policies.

We know this is an unsettling and upsetting time for some in our community, and urge anyone who feels unsafe or needs support to let us know so we can investigate and provide appropriate assistance.”

What a lot of rubbish the spokesperson speaks. Nothing could be further from the truth. They have been derelict in their duty.

    Wish wash words
Its not what is said, but what is DONE–and that is plain and evident–NOTHING-to protect jewish students.
I urge Jewish students to strongly consider all other universities in NSW for studies.

I for one am totally ashamed as a an allumni.
