ABC Radion National program Spirit of Things is entirely devoted to Jewish ANZACs this weekend.

A Star of David was fashioned by Greg Sher’s mates for the ramp ceremony for his body

Presenter Rachael Kohn told J-Wire: “The program features a great colourful interview with Mark Dapin, author of Jewish Anzacs: Jews in the Australian Military, and  an interview Felix Sher, the father of the late Pte Gregory Sher.

I’m so intrigued by the stories – some great ones, great heroes, including Bomber Pilot Julius Cohen who had his own comic strip! And I also mention the recent passing of the decorated WWII pilot (and publisher) Peter Isaacson.”

More than 7000 Jews have fought in Australia’s military conflicts, contrary to a popular view that Jews rarely serve in the military.
