On this weekend’s Radio National’s “The Spirit of Things”, Rachael Kohn talks to filmmaker Judy Menczel, Klezmer singer Fay Sussman and Warsaw Jewish museum curator Dr Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett.

Australian Yiddish Klezmer singer Fay Sussman went on a pilgrimage to Poland inspired by young Poles, like Kamilla Klauszinska, who want to keep Jewish memory alive.

Fay’s tour is captured in Judy Menczel’s film Pockets of Hope which premiered November 1st at the International Jewish Film Festival in Sydney.

Dr Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett is the Chief Curator of the Core Exhibition of the new POLIN Museum of Jewish History in Warsaw, Poland. The Canadian-born academic has lived in Warsaw for eight years and is now a Polish citizen.

The program airs on ABC’s Radio National at 6:05pm on Sunday November 8.
