The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies and dealing with COVID
The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies continues to provide information about the health orders and the services that are available during the lockdown.
CEO Darren Bark told J-Wire: “We continue to arrange forums and engagements with New South Wales health so that the Jewish community is tailored with specialized information and support.
As we prepare for the high holidays, we are working with rabbis, synagogues and NSW Health to prepare for all circumstances.
He said: “I’m very pleased that the Jewish Board of Deputies has been able to ensure that no matter what language we speak, we all understand the public health advice.
NSW Health will now be publishing more information and materials in Hebrew after discussions with the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies.
Regarding support for the community, Darren Bark said: At this time, the JBD has ramped up our operations to ensure that we are there to support everyone.”
The message is clear: Get vaccinated as soon as possible. Vaccinations are our first line of defence, not only for our health but also the economic defence for lockdowns.
Although vaccination rates are increasing, we need to ensure everyone has the latest information about getting vaccinated. Everyone should know that support is available every step of the way. You can visit the JBD website at www.nswjbd.org.
Darren Bark has a message to members of the community about reaching out to offer support to those we know are living alone.
He added: “Please check in to make sure that they’re okay and let them see a familiar or friendly face. Let’s support each other by staying home, staying strong and staying safe.
We are aware that there have been some in the community that have been hospitalised, and this is an important reminder that we cannot be complacent. This virus is serious and can kill.”
