He tells J-Wire readers why he has taken this position within Sydney’s Jewish community.

Eric Roozendaal with the NSW president of MDA Tony Ziegler

Eric Roozendaal:

“After a long political and commercial career I wanted to do something for the community, a chance to give back and MDA is a perfect fit. MDA in Israel is responsible for Ambulance Services, the Blood bank, Mothers milk bank, and emergency responses.

MDA is a great cause, especially at a time when there are so many political and religious divisions in Israel because MDA does not discriminate on religious, ethnic or political grounds. MDA has one mission to…. save lives.

MDA is often referred to as Israel’s second line of defence. It provides Israel’s emergency medical response and ambulance services, manages the national blood bank and provides international disaster aid. In Israel, MDA is often the first on the ground providing medical teams, mobile surgical theatres, equipment and personnel.

Israel has experienced tremendous growth since its creation, leading the world in technology innovation and water conservation, all while serving as a haven for worldwide Jewry. Like Israel, in recent years Australian Friends of MDA has also experienced strong growth, with supporters donating over 15 ambulances, 30 medicycles and vital medical equipment

It is from this solid foundation that I hope we can continue to increase exponentially, Australia’s contribution to funding and supporting MDA. I am proud to represent an organisation that makes a real difference

The challenge for Australian Friends of Magen David Adom is to make the Community here more aware of the great work MDA does not only in Israel but around the world when disaster strikes. It is my aim to raise the Profile of MDA within the community.”
