Disgraced former Federal Court Judge Marcus Einfeld has applied to Sydney’s Supreme Court to disbar himself .Currently serving a minimum two years’ imprisonment in Sydney’s Long Bay jail, Einfeld told the court through his solicitor that he is not a fit person to practice law and that he wished to remove himself from the NSW Bar Association.

But the Association has already started proceedings to have him disbarred following his conviction for perverting the course of justice. Einfeld had gone to extreme lengths to avoid paying a $77 speeding fine.

Einfeld’s lawyer, Robert Tassell, told the Court that there were still matters to be resolved before the disvbarring could be effected.

The Court adjourned the hearing until next month.
