Ambassador Livne’s vote was the first of eleven placed in the special ballot box at the Israeli embassy in Wellington.

The votes will be sent to Israel by diplomatic mail this weekend.

A spokesperson for the embassy told J-Wire: “Only Israeli officials (diplomats, schlichim and sailors) can cast a vote outside Israel.”

Not too far away In Canberra, Israel’s Ambassador to Australia Shmuel Ben-Shmuel headed the next round of voters around the world as he popped his vote into the ballot box.
