The Israeli Elections: The first vote is cast!
Israel’s ambassador to New Zealand Yosef Livne has cast the first vote in the 2015 Israeli elections due to be held on March 17.
Ambassador Livne’s vote was the first of eleven placed in the special ballot box at the Israeli embassy in Wellington.
The votes will be sent to Israel by diplomatic mail this weekend.
A spokesperson for the embassy told J-Wire: “Only Israeli officials (diplomats, schlichim and sailors) can cast a vote outside Israel.”
Not too far away In Canberra, Israel’s Ambassador to Australia Shmuel Ben-Shmuel headed the next round of voters around the world as he popped his vote into the ballot box.
