Sydney’s The Great Synagogue will be the first city venue to host the popular Melton Course “Beyond Borders:  The History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict” presented by Dr Michael Abrahams-Sprod from the University of Sydney.

20150128-DHBJS-Beyond-Borders-Great-Synagogue-200x130Beyond Borders” is a 15 week course, starting on Tuesday 10 March and running until 30 June 2015, 7.00 – 9.15 p.m.  The course costs $385.
Justice Stephen Rothman, president of The Great Synagogue told J-Wire:
“We’re excited to be offering “Beyond Borders” at The Great Synagogue.  Melton, offered here in Sydney under the auspices of the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Sydney, is known for providing high quality Jewish adult education and this new course is one of its most popular.
The course is designed to provide a historical overview and deep insight into the Arab-Israeli conflict.  The class format encourages debate and discussion and will help students better understand this conflict as it unfolds.  No formal study or assessment is involved, just lively lectures and discussions.  Indications are that those working in the city will find the location and class times very appealing.”
A free introductory class with Dr. Michael Abrahams-Sprod is being offered at the Synagogue on Tuesday 24 February 2014 7.00 – 8.00 p.m.  To register for the introductory class and obtain more information about the course contact Jillian Fine (University of Sydney) on 0410 497 870.  For more information about parking please call the Synagogue Office on (02) 9267 2477.
