Richard Williamson, the Holocaust-denying bishop, has arrived in London following his expulsion from Argentina…greeted by Australian socialite, Lady Michele Renouf.Newspaper reports state that she greeted him at the behest of notorious Holocaust-denier, David Irving. But reports released early this morning through the Zenit Newsagency which acts for the Vatican, state that the bishop has written a letter to the Vatican apologising to all those he offended. In the statement Williamson wrote of his comments: “If I had known beforehand the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise, especially to the Church, but also to survivors and relatives of victims of injustice under the Third Reich. I would not have made them.”

Williamson told Swedish television last month that “there was not one Jew killed in the gas chambers.”

The Zenit Agency reports Williamson’s statement followed a direct request from Pope Benedict XVI to reconsider his remarks. The Pope made a statement earlier this month saying “it is clear that every negation or minimisation of this terrible crime is intolerable and unacceptable.”
