On a cold and foggy Queen’s Birthday weekend, in front of a dedicated supporter base of family and friends, the Over 30 Kick for a Cause footy ‘stars’ displayed impressive football prowess, while raising more than $10,000 for Jewish Care and the Melbourne Jewish Charity Fund (MJCF).

There were spectacular marks, superstar goals and great sportsmanship shown by all as Melbourne Jewish Charity Fund 11.17.83 defeated
Jewish Care 6.8.44.

The game was organised by a committee of friends including Reuben Zelwer, David Gold, Yoni Paluch and Dion Epstein.  All players raised sponsorship from supporters, family and friends, with the money to be split evenly between the two charities.

Congratulations to Jewish Care CEO, Bill Appleby, who raised the highest amount – a fantastic $5,540 in donations. Rather than accept his prize of a choice between a framed Collingwood jumper signed by Dale Thomas or framed Carlton jumper signed by Chris Judd, Appleby choose to place both jumpers on auction for the general public. All proceeds from the auction will also go towards Jewish Care’s social justice programs and the MJCF.

The organisers were elated with the event, now in its third, successful year.
“It was a day filled with smiles, sport, sausage sizzle and an amazing show of support,” said Zelwer.

Thanks also go to sponsors Burgess Paluch Legal Recruitment, Adapt Wealth Management and Team Zone, who donated 50 coveted AFL Prize Cards which were a huge hit with the kids.
