Thanks to Gaza’s Israeli neighbours who donated to Australian bushfire victims
The people of Sderot and the Shaar Hanegev region have been under a nearly constant barrage of rockets from Gaza over the past 20 years yet they didn’t hesitate to donate tens of thousands of shekel to strangers and wildlife in need on the other side of the world.
Former Sydneysider Rabbi Benjy Levy, CEO of Mosaic United and former Dean of Jewish Life and Learning at Sydney’s Moriah College, presented Alon Davidi, Mayor of Sderot and Ofir Libstein, head of the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council, with certificates on behalf of the Jewish community of Australia to thank them for their support in the face of devastating bushfires.
The funds were collected by a coalition led by JNF Australia and distributed to the Australian Wildlife & Nature Recovery Fund (World Wildlife Fund)
