Thanks, Julie
The Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) has expressed its deep gratitude to former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop who will retire at the next federal election.

Julie Bishop and former ZFA president Danny Lamm
During her time as a member of Parliament and most notably, during her tenure as Foreign Minister, Ms Bishop was a staunch friend and supporter of Israel and the Jewish community in Australia.
President of the ZFA, Jeremy Leibler, said, “Throughout her parliamentary career, Ms Bishop has been a firm advocate of the close, 70-year diplomatic ties between Israel and Australia. As Foreign Minister, Ms Bishop served the Australian public with great distinction and moral clarity by continually opposing biased anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations, withdrawing direct foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority for their Martyr (terror) Fund and continually advocating for a peaceful two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict”.
As the first female Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and Foreign Minister, Ms Bishop has been a trailblazer within Australian politics and the wider Australian community. After a stellar parliamentary career, Ms Bishop will leave behind a strong legacy of public service, perseverance and friendship with the Jewish community. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours,” Jeremy Leibler added.
