Team Manager announced for MAIGS
Introducing Ellana Aarons – MAIGS Team Manager
They say if you want something done best ask a busy person. Ellana Aarons aged 38, is certainly busy and loving it. This Victorian mother of three children, aged 9, 7 and 17 months is ready and able to step up to this challenge. Ellana recently accepted the prestigious role of Australian Team Manager for the upcoming Maccabi Australia International Games, “MAIGS” set to commence December 26th in Sydney. This position is really an extension of what she does for a part-time job which is Operations and Development Director for O’Keefe and Partners who are specialists in marketing, fundraising, business development and strategic management. Ellana has a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) degree and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) degree from Monash University and is well equipped to handle the many facets of this role.
She has had an association with Maccabi since she can remember with Netball being her sport of choice. Yes, you guessed right, she was also once the President of the Netball Club in Victoria and her husband is heavily involved in Maccabi as well. In 2009, she was Assistant Team Manager for Maccabiah and was involved in an administrative capacity in 2005.
When you speak to Ellana you feel her sense of calmness. A highly organised, intelligent woman who knows and understands what has to be done. Ellana doesn’t kid herself either, frankly saying, “I will be leaning heavily on Harry Procel, MAI President, Tom Goldman, Head of Delegation, Maccabiah 2009, Lisa Borowick, General Manager Maccabiah 2009 and Michael Aronson, Team Manager for Maccabiah 2009 for their guidance and direction in this challenging and exciting new role.”
This position encompasses overseeing the appointment and selection of Assistant Managers, Administrator and Treasurer. Then it flows onto the overview of recruitment of managers and coaches. Then mix it with assisting in travel and accommodation for interstate competitors, fundraising and uniform design. But let’s keep things clear, Ellana will not be working alone. She is confident she can recruit a dynamic team to assist her with publicity and marketing being her key strengths. This is something she would like to focus on. Ellana told Maccabi News, “At this stage we will be calling for nominations for Section Managers shortly and athletes in April. If the response to cycling has been any indication as to what we can expect, then we are looking to field a high quality Australian team. Where the depth of talent in team sports is strong enough we would love to field more than one Australian team.”
If you are interested in getting involved in team management, please email Ellana at [email protected] or you can phone her on 0411 112 016. This is a great way to get involved in the community and be part of what will be a sensational event.
