Sydney in concert with Brisbane
More than 600 people packed the Science Theatre at Sydney ‘s University of New South Wales…to hear topliners The Potbelleez and Lior perform for Ark Aid, raising funds for flood-affected Queenslanders.
Co-organiser The Jewish House CEO Rabbi Mendel Kastel announced that the concert staged jointly by The Jewish House and Our Big Kitchen, had raised more than $44,000 to help those in need north of the border.
Also appearing at the show were Young Elvis, Old Man River, Morphingaz and Monsieur Camembert.
Surprise performer and show stealer was the Potbelleez singer Ilan Kidron’s son Gabe who sang with his father and brought the house down.
Also in the audience was Ari Heber, executive director of Queensland Jewish Community Services who came down especially for the performance. He told J-Wire: “Although the Brisbane floods are no longer featured in the media, let me assure you our work is far from over. We have many families who have lost everything and the mental conditions of some of them are a cause of concern for us.”
J-Wire continues to sponsor organisations who are raising funds for the victims.
