Sydneysider Matt Levy has been confirmed as a co-chair of the Athlete Advisory Group (AAG).

AAG’s role is to provide athlete input into the planning and strategies of Commonwealth Games Australia.

Levy is a Para-swimmer who was named the best male athlete among the world’s Jewish athletes who competed in the 20th Maccabiah Games in Israel in 2017.  He won five gold medals at that Games.

“It is an honour and pretty cool to be chosen to work on the planning for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022. It’s great that athletes will have some input in the planning and helping to drive things” he told J-Wire.

He expects the momentum will build as it gets closer to 2022.

Meanwhile, he has been training for the biennial IAAF World Championships to be held in London in September.

This is a biennial athletics event organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
