Support for Israel in the NSW Parliament
More than 60 NSW Parliamentarians including NSW Labor Opposition leader John Robertson and NSW Opposition Labor leader in the Legislative Council Luke Foley attended the formation of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel at State Parliament today.
Vaucluse MP Gabrielle Upton and State Labor MLC, Walt Secord were elected as chair and deputy chair, respectively.
The meeting was addressed by NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president Yair Miller.
Mr Secord said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be elected to the position.”
“It is important that the Jewish community and Israel know that they have support solid at the State Parliamentary level – especially in light of the recent BDS protests against Jewish and Israeli businesses in Australia.
“It was wonderful to see that there was bipartisan support for the Jewish community and Israel,” Mr Secord said.
I stand with you as you support Israel
