J-Wire has been a free service since it started five years ago but operating costs have forced us, as with a rapidly growing number of on line publications, to charge for content.

We need to clarify the difference between registering and subscribing. Registering produces an email sent daily containing an excerpt from our latest stories and articles. It does not create free access to the site and there is no charge.

Clicking on a story may produce a paywall (some stories are free to access). It as that point that you have the choice of subscribing. The cost of the paywall, which allows access to the entire site,  is 99¢ for a day, A$2.50 for a week or A$4.99 for a month. These stories are premium content only and the first five are on us…Many of your favorite feature writers will still be free to read.

In a world used to free content this may seem strange. But this world is changing rapidly and paying for content produces a fair deal for the publishing industry.

We hope you stick with us….
