Students speak up against school antisemitism
A seminar has been organised in Sydney to offer a rare opportunity for high school students to speak directly to our politicians about their experiences and concerns regarding antisemitism in schools.
The last year has seen a dramatic increase in antisemitism in our schools, with many Jewish students being verbally and physically attacked.
This event, titled “Antisemitism and Me,” will provide a unique platform for students to have their voices heard and to engage in shaping a safer and more inclusive educational environment for everyone. By sharing their personal experiences and concerns, students can contribute to meaningful discussions with policymakers and help drive change in their schools and communities.
When: Sunday, 18 August at 2:00 pm
Where: Sydney North Shore (Exact address will be provided upon registration)
Politicians in attendance
Paul Fletcher MP, Federal Member for Bradfield, Manager of Opposition Business
Matt Cross MP, Member for Davidson, Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and Shadow Assistant Minister for Government Accountability
Alister Henskens MP, Member for Wahroonga, Shadow Attorney General and Manager of Opposition Business
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference and advocate for a safer, more respectful educational environment.
Be a part of the conversation on 18 August, which aims to combat antisemitism and promote tolerance and understanding in our schools. The event is presented by The North Shore Synagogue together with the Board of Jewish Education, Masada College, Betar and HaTsofim.
Students from all schools are welcome. School-aged students from youth movements and via BJE have also been invited. Although all students are invited the focus is on personal experiences of antisemitism and therefore is like to be of most relevance to Jewish students.
