Jewish community leaders have slammed post-exam partygoers who used a politically incorrect theme to dress us members of Klu Klux clan, Holocaust victims, a black-face person and a moustached Nazi in uniform.

The party was held in the regional city of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales involving students from the Charles Sturt University.

NSW Jewish Board of Deputies chief executive Vic Alhadeff condemned the students’ conduct. “How appalling that university students would find it amusing to present themselves as Nazis, as members of the Ku Klux Klan and as Holocaust victims.

“It begs the question of how aware they are of what these symbols mean and of the horrendous violence and race hatred that the Nazis and the KKK perpetrated, not to mention undermining the enormity of the Holocaust.

“We call on the university authorities to take firm and appropriate action and to send a clear message that such despicable conduct by their students will not be tolerated.”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission commented:  “This shameful act is in no way defensible, and will rightly shock the conscience of every Australian who will understand that these foolish students crossed every line of decency. The systematic extermination of millions of people, and the pure hatred of a violent antisemitic movement that is the KKK should not form the basis for any party costume.

The use of the blackface is unacceptable under any circumstances and reinforces historically racist stereotypes. Such patently vulgar and shocking behaviour not only mocked the suffering of the victims of racism and genocide, but trivialised  the human horrors perpetrated by the Nazis. Clearly, this abhorrent and ill-judged incident  demonstrates the need for Holocaust and anti-racism education in Australia.

Maybe if these young people visited the Auschwitz death camp they would understand why their party clothes and insensitive conduct were deeply hurtful to so many.”

The Charles Sturt University published on its Facebook page:  “We are aware of an incident that occurred last night that may have involved Charles Sturt University students. Charles Sturt University (CSU) will not tolerate this offensive behaviour. It does not reflect our University values and we strongly condemn these actions.

CSU is currently investigating these incidents and social media posts.”

This is not political incorrectness. This is making light of the murdered and the suffering of millions of people. And I am not only referring to Jews.

Unfortunately its a reflection on our schools which award such morons- with no knowledge of the most rudimentary history- an HSC. It is also a reflection on the university which enrolls such idiots only to make up their numbers.
