Spirited, inspiring music video released for disability awareness
ARIA Award-winning singer-songwriter Ilan Kidron has released an irresistible new single that breaks new ground in galvanising support and awareness for people with a disability.
Teaming up with the Choice Foundation, Kidron and his indie dance band Glassbreakers have created and launched the inspiring new anthem “Nothing is Impossible”. The music video features a kids’ choir and heart-warming vision of people from all walks of life kicking up their heels… with joy.
Now in its second year, The Choice Foundation has made great strides in funding inclusive programs and support groups for people with disabilities in the Jewish community. It has already funded 9 programs that make a real difference to people who need it most; they include training and job-matching solutions, respite care and extension camps, group homes, flex funds, learning support in schools, dance classes and more.
Any JCA constituent organisation can apply for funding as well as individuals who are keen to team up with one of these organisations that apply.
However, according to co-founders Taryn and Andrew Boyarsky, some of the wider community is not yet aware of its work.
“But the song is also something that people with a disability in our community can be proud of,” said Taryn. “It’s something that represents them, has meaning for them and speaks – yes, sings – for them!”
“All of the people in the videoclip are either members of our community or are people who have been supported by the foundation,” added foundation manager Danielle Wakerman.
Known for his belting vocals with Australian dance music pioneers The Potbelleez, as well as his writing for Rita Ora, Chance the Rapper, Jessica Mauboy, Ricky Martin and Tina Arena, Ilan – who is also Artistic Director of Dunera.com.au – said the whole creative drive was ‘to invoke a musical spark’ – whether from a place of extreme adversity or comfort.
“When Taryn and I started talking about a project that would unite people in support of the people with a disability in the community, the song just poured – cascaded – out!
“The opening line ‘You are a hero while the world sleeps’ honours the quiet achievers burdened with heavy loads. And ‘Whether an eagle or a white dove, we share the same sky’ expresses hope that we can all feel a sense of belonging – no matter the circumstance.”
Along with the kids’ chorus, Reigan Derry joins Ilan on vocals; virtuoso fiddler Ben Adler arranged & plays strings. “Hopefully, Nothing Is Impossible has the wings to make a big change,” Ilan added. “The title says it all!”
