Rabbi Moshe Kahn, co-chair of the Shabbat Project introduced Rabbi Goldstein at Caulfield Hebrew Congregation explaining that one of the prime purposes of the Rabbi’s visit to Melbourne was to look at Melbourne as a template of a highly successful community in the running of the Shabbat Project.

Rabbi Gutnick thanked Rabbi Goldstein saying “It’s always a pleasure and a learning experience to hear how other communities conduct their activities and the Chief Rabbi provided us with a very thoughtful insight into South African Jewish community.”

Following an engaging meeting regarding various communal topics, Rabbi Goldstein stated that “I really enjoyed meeting the Rabbinic leadership of Melbourne, we shared many ideas with one another, we discussed the Shabbat Project and many issues of common interest including the bonds of friendship and family between the South African and Australian communities and strengthening the ties between the two communities.”

Rabbi Goldstein has been Chief Rabbi of South Africa since 2005.
