Six Australian Jewish Olympians ready for the Games
Six Jewish Aussies are ready to take on the world as Paris Olympics begin.
The six include:
Jemima Montag: 26-year-old racewalker She came sixth in the final of the Women’s 20 km walk in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in a time of 1:30.39.
Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva: 22-yr-old Olympic rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games clubs champion, team silver medalist, and all-around bronze medalist.
Jess Weintraub: a 17-yr-old is a rhythmic gymnast. Her family moved from Brisbane to Melbourne three years ago so that Jess could further her gymnastic career.
Jessica Fox, and Noemie Fox. The kayak/canoe sisters. Jess 30, is an Olympic gold medal winner and younger sister Noemie 27, becomes the fourth member of the family to become an Olympian.
Peter Wertheim, co-CEO of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry, told J-Wire: “All of us at the ECAJ are sending our best wishes to the whole Australian Olympic team, including our six Jewish Australian athletes. A big medal haul would be lovely, but we are proud of all of you, no matter what. We are thrilled that Tokyo gold-medal-winning paddler Jess Fox from the Australian Jewish community will join Kookaburras veteran Eddie Ockenden as Australia’s 2024 Olympic flag-bearers.
