Silver lining as Fox wins second medal at kayak titles
Olympic champ Noemie Fox has claimed her second medal in two days, clinching silver in the kayak championship at the Canoe Slalom Australian Open in Penrith.

Olympic champion Noemie Fox has won her second medal in two days, claiming silver in the kayak championship at the Canoe Slalom Australian Open in Sydney.
Fox finished second behind Germany’s Ricarda Funk, with American Evy Leibfarth rounding out the podium in hot conditions at Penrith Whitewater Stadium on Saturday.
The Australian’s silver-lined performance followed her bronze in the C1 final on Friday.
The C1 field featured the Paris Olympic gold and bronze medallists and was an all-Australian podium, with Jessica Fox taking gold, Kate Eckhardt silver and Noemie Fox rounding third.
Noemie went one better on Saturday, and was thrilled to finish second behind Funk.
“I’m really happy to have come away with a silver medal in the kayak – I just wanted to go out there and do my best run,” Fox said.
“It was a great field and (I’m) so stoked to come away with my best international result in the kayak.
“It’s been nice having all the internationals here (to race against and train with). For us, it gives us an indication of our level ahead of the worlds (championships).
“It’s also just nice to have some more people to watch and train with, to be able to compare yourself, and have tough races and know that you’ve got to put down a good run.”
One more day of racing remains, with the kayak cross heats through to the finals to be held from 9.20am (AEDT) on Sunday.
