New Zealand Christians joined together to Bless Israel across the nation and around the world.

This New Zealand initiative is a wave of praise and blessing that will go from the ends of the earth to Israel.

Shofars will be blown from over 100 locations throughout New Zealand as a symbol to begin a wave of blessing around the world towards Israel.

The event is coordinated up and down the country says Pastor Rob Holding who is the Katikati Christian Centre leader. He says that this event is all about ‘Showing support for the nation of Israel.”

Katikati residents Trevor Harvey, and Shimshon Chaddock join others in blowing their shofars from Lindemann Lookout.

Shimshon says: “My grandfather was born in Russia.

He escaped from the Czars who were killing Jews, to the USA, and later moved to Israel.”

On May 14, Israel’s Independence Day will be commemorated. This will mark the nation’s 70 years as an independent state. Today’s celebration, April 29 was chosen as the day to release a blessing of love and unity around the world.

Nations Bless Israel NZ national coordinator Jane Troughton says, “we are called to love all people

“Blessing Israel does not mean we do not want to see blessing, wholeness and God’s best purpose for all others too.

“We’re responding to the call in Genesis 12:1 “ I will bless those who bless you.” There’s something that happens as we bless others.

“We recognize that Christians haven’t always blessed the people of Israel, and that there have been injustices that the Jewish people have suffered. This is part of a journey of reconciliation and looking for the wellbeing of others.

“The release of blessing will start in New Zealand and move from nation to nation, from the ends of the earth to Israel.”

What a potent and positive message of love and hope and reconciliation this remarkable initiative sends around the world, hopefully opening hearts and minds to the miracle of the Jewish people returning to their ancient homeland.
