Schnatties head to Israel

120 young Jewish Australians from across Australia have left Melbourne and Sydney to spend a year in Israel on various Zionist programs.

ZFA president Dr Danny Lamm was at Melbourne airport to farewell the group.

ShlichimMadrichim, family and friends were at both airports to be with participants from BetarHabonim DrorHashomer HatzairHineni and Netzer all coordinated by the AZYC.

Gabi Newman, head of the Australian Zionist Youth Council, said: “It’s always wonderful sending the next future madrichim of our movements to Israel where we will be  privileged to see them grow and develop into future leaders of our movements and Jewish communities.

Netzer’s Ella Sandler – added: “I am hoping it will a very ideologically fulfilling year and I look forward to discovering more about my Jewish identity and Israel.”
Habonim’s Raphael – Janover  Rocha said: “I am nervous but I know it will be an incredible year and I look forward to immersing myself in Israeli culture and life.”
Hineni’s Emma Freilich added:  “I hope to explore my Jewish Identity, connect with and build the land, volunteer, make new friends, have fun and have the best year of my life.”
