Shir_Madness_logo-melb_black-400In an exciting first, Melbourne will host the celebration of Jewish music at the inaugural Shir Madness Festival, Sunday September 6th.

The festival brings together 30 acts on five stages, over 9 hours in and around the Classic Cinema/Kadimah Hall and a stage in Selwyn Street Elsternwick.

Festival Directors Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier are curating an event that brings together the diversity, richness, breadth of talent and explorations of genres from singer/songwriters to Broadway, from Cantorial to Jazz, from Ambient to Yiddish folk songs, from Klezmer to Electronic Dance Music.

While applications to perform at this year’s Festival are still open we can confirm that Husky,Tinpan Orange, Monsieur Camembert, Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier are planned to feature on the bill.

An organiser told J-Wire: “We invite all community members to get involved with Shir Madness; apply to perform, help out as a volunteer or donate your financial support. It is time for Melbourne to have a Jewish music festival.”
