At least two terrorists were killed and several others were injured early Sunday morning in Shechem (Nablus) during a gun battle with Israeli forces who were operating in the city to capture wanted terrorists.

The IDF stated that Israeli Special forces and the Shin Bet security service “operated for many hours” against a number of terrorists who had barricaded themselves inside a house in the Kasbah in Shechem.

The soldiers arrived at the house and waged a battle against terrorists who fired at the forces and threw explosive devices at them. The IDF soldiers responded with live fire and other means until the terrorists who were inside the house and on the roof of the house were neutralised.

During the operation, a number of armed terrorists shot at the forces, and the IDF troops fired back, and a number of terrorists were hit.

When the shootout ended, the IDF fighters entered the house and found many weapons, weapon parts, and explosive devices.

“The hand of the Israeli soldiers and the Shin Bet will reach wherever terrorists are hiding and will continue the joint activity in Judea and Samaria in order to maintain the security of the citizens of Israel,” the IDF stated.

Arab sources reported that the IDF targeted Ibrahim al-Nablusi, the only survivor of the terrorist cell that was killed in broad daylight on February 8. According to previous reports, Nablusi was also involved in shooting attacks on Yosef’s Tomb in the city. At least two shoulder-launched missiles were fired at the house where he was barricaded.

The Palestinian Authority’s official WAFA news agency reported that two terrorists were shot dead and 10 others wounded, one of them seriously, in the raid.

The PA’s Ministry of Health identified the two as Mohammad Bashar Azizi, 25, and Abderrahman Jamal Soboh, 28.

The Palestinian factions in Shechem announced a one-day general strike in the city in honour of the two slain terrorists.

In related news, the IDF and other Israeli security forces conducted counterterrorism activities on Saturday night in a number of locations in Judea and Samaria, including in Kabatiya in the Jenin district and in the villages of Al Muayir, Al Aida, and Jabal Mawalah.

Soldiers from the elite Duvedevan unit and other forces operated in the village of Kabatiya in Samaria and arrested two wanted persons suspected of involvement in terrorist activities. During the operation, the troops fired at armed terrorists who shot at them.

A total of four wanted persons were arrested during the night.

The wanted persons and the seized weapons were transferred for further investigation by the security forces.

There were no Israeli casualties in any of the clashes.

The arrests were made as part of Operation Wave Breaker, Israel’s counterterrorism operation following several deadly terror attacks that the country experienced in recent months.
