“The NSW Government has welcomed the appointment of three new trustees to the Sydney Opera House, Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts,” George Souris, said today.

Mr Souris said Brenna Hobson, Jillian Segal AM and Phillip Wolanski AM would be new trustees. The three-year terms of the trustees will start on 1 January 2014.

“It is my great pleasure to confirm these appointments to the Trust which oversees and guides the management of the World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House,” Mr Souris said.

“The new trustees will be taking up their roles at an interesting time in the Sydney Opera House’s history, following the 40th birthday celebrations this year.

“The NSW Government will provide $13.7 million in 2014-15 to the Sydney Opera House to develop a major renewal plan that will take the Opera House through to its 50th birthday in 2023.

“The newly appointed trustees will bring substantial experience and expertise in business and the performing arts to their roles advising on the direction of the Sydney Opera House and the development of the renewal plan.”

Chairman of the Sydney Opera House Trust, John Symond AM, welcomed the appointments of new Trustees to the Trust.

“Phil, Jillian and Brenna bring a wealth of skill and experience that will complement the existing Trust members very well. On our 40th anniversary, the Sydney Opera House is at an exciting stage with a vibrant future.”
