Security plan escalated in Melbourne
Melbourne’s Community Security Group has issued a joint statement with The Jewish Community Council of Victoria announcing that it has enacted its escalation plan following intelligence indicating that the community may be at rick of an attack.
Over the past two months there have been two terrorist plots thwarted in Melbourne and other counter-terrorism activity around the country. It follows 12 months of heightened activity in which law enforcement agencies have conducted raids, made arrests and charged Australians with terrorism-related offences.
CSG has uncovered new & current intelligence which indicates that a radicalised person may attack the Melbourne Jewish community. No particular facility or organisation has been identified and no particular timeframe has been specified. CSG conveyed the information to Victoria Police and other Australian security agencies and is working in collaboration with those organisations to verify its authenticity and respond accordingly.
Prior to last Shabbat (12/13 June) CSG enacted its internal escalation plan. A number of actions were taken including upgrading operational coverage, briefing community leadership and issuing an initial security bulletin to community organisations which requested increased vigilance from all community members.
CSG’s increased operational coverage will continue as the investigation into this matter is ongoing.
We are now looking to you, our community members, to take measures to ensure our community remains safe. You can do this by:
- Increasing your awareness of any form of suspicious activity;
- Reporting this activity to CSG via the 24/7 emergency hotline;
- Giving consideration to upskilling yourself via one of CSG’s security awareness programs – visit www.thecsg.org.au/vic
We wish to reassure community members that with CSG’s increased security presence and the vigilance of community members, Jewish community activities will continue as normal.
In an emergency please call police (000) before contacting CSG. If you see something suspicious, or require security advice, act immediately and call 1 300 000 CSG [274]
Its a sad indictment on society when writers resort to using substitute words for the word (Terrorist/s) and who they really are.
On security is it better to form Ghettos of likeminded people or disperse people throughout the Greater Melbourne Metro area?
I once lived at an address where the street’s residence could be described as a league of nations and everyone lived in peace & harmony. Maybe those days are long gone.
That’s sad..
What on earth is “a radicalised person”?
Is that some PC code for a Muslim or Islamic terrorist?
Straight talk without the dhimmi cowering is preferred.
