Minister for Home Affairs, Brendan O’Connor, has announced his support of a continuation of the Secure Schools funding Program.
The Minister visited Sydney’s Emanuel School this week where he made his announcement after being welcomed to the school by its president, David Nathan.
The meeting was held in the Pizem Courtyard with senior Emanuel School students joining community leaders including the president of the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies Robin Margo and the executive director of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, Peter Wertheim. Justice Stephen Rothman addressed the meeting.
David Nathan told J-Wire: “We are pleased that the Federal Government recognised and continues to recognise the importance of having a secure environment for schools and particularly for Jewish dayschools.”
