Secord welcomes election of Scott Farlow as new chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel
NSW Labor frontbencher and deputy chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel Walt Secord has welcomed the election of Liberal MP Scott Farlow as the new chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel.
Scott Farlow was elected unopposed on June 23 at State Parliament in a meeting chaired by Mr Secord. Former Parliamentary Friends chair and Vaucluse MP Gabrielle Upton also attended.
Walt Secord also paid tribute to Natalie Ward for her work as the immediate past chair and remarked on the spirit of bipartisanship,
She resigned the post when she was appointed Sports, Multiculturalism, Seniors and Veterans Minister on May 27.
“I have known Scott Farlow for six years when he was elected in 2015 and I have heard him speak at Jewish and Israeli events. Scott Farlow has a deep knowledge of Israel, the Middle East, the local Jewish community and Judaism,” Mr Secord said.
“Scott Farlow will be a great chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel and he will have my full support. I look forward to working with him in the spirit of bipartisanship as I did with his predecessors Gabrielle Upton, Bruce Notley-Smith and Natalie Ward.”
Walt Secord has been deputy chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel since 2011.
