Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, plans to talk to Lucy Turnbull about the conditions in which livestock are being transported from Australia to Israel.

This shocking images which have been screened of a voyage detailing the circumstances of live sheep in a specially-fitted out vessels.

Israel’s first lady wrote on her Facebook

The Google translation roughly reads:

“I was shocked to see the terrible conditions in which animals are being transported to the State of Israel. It’s heartbreaking.

I am a full partner to the animal organisations concerned with the rights and well-being of animals in Israel and around the world. I turned to the prime minister [Benjamin Netanyahu]to do his utmost to stop this terrible suffering. I also turned to Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel and I am sure that he will do everything in his power. I shall also appeal to the wife of the Prime Minister of Australia, my friend, and I am sure the topics will speak will [sic] their hearts.”.

There is no living being who deserves to suffer such conditions and such humiliating treatment, and we society must not accept it. We owe the animals the minimum conditions to live with dignity. ”
Sarah Netanyahu.

Australian Agriculture Mininister David Littleproud announced a review into the live sheep export trade.

2400 sheep died aboard the Awassi Express on journey to the Middle East from Western Australia last year.

  1. Rabbi Pinchos Woolstone says:

It would far more humane and practical for the shechita and kasherization to occur in Australia and then the finished product shipped to Israel.

  2. Adrian Jackson says:

I to was shocked at the conditions Australian sheep suffered on a sheep transport ship recently and at other times in the past. Often the same ships and stock agents in Australia are involved.

Police should arrest the master of the ship, the veterinarian on board and the managers of the company in Australia that loaded to many sheep onto the ship in WA.

Solitary confinement in a dark windowless gaol cell might correct their cruel behavour of these uncivilized men.

I like lamb crumbed cutlets but I wont eat lamb for the remainder of this financial year and suggest lamb eating Australians do the same.

  3. Michael Barnett says:

Why are the spouses of politicians being dragged into this mess?

Perhaps they expect them to swap lamb roast and shwarma recipes?
