Sydney musician Sam Weiss has become the Composer in Residence for Sydney Children’s Choir.

Deine Mami is a poem written by Sam’s great-grandmother to her daughter Nelly on the eve of the Second World War. It tells of a mother’s love for her daughter, while also capturing the gloom and nervousness in pre-war Germany.

Deine Mami (Your Mami) was set to music composed by Sam and performed at the Sydney Jewish Museum.

Two of Sam’s other works – In’Shal-Om, a prayer for peace and co-existence and There are Always Miracles, inspired by Eddie Jaku’s words, were also premiered recently.

Join Lyn Williams and former Emanuel School student, composer Sam Weiss, as they talk about the Sydney Children’s Choir’s Composer in Residence program and  Deine Mami.

The story of so many others who just want their children to dream.
