Ryvchin to represent Australia at Global Coalition
The Executive Council of Australian Jewry’s Co-CEO Alex Ryvchin has been invited to represent the Australian Jewish community at the Global Coalition for Israel in Jerusalem early next year.
Fighting delegitimization will be on the agenda, with the conference bringing together leading advocates for Israel and major organisations worldwide to engage with the Israeli leadership and civil society to strengthen cooperation in defending the national rights of the Jewish people.
Alex Ryvchin, a well-renowned author, said.“It is always special to be in Israel to strategise with my friends and colleagues from around the world,”
“But the timing of the invitation was particularly significant, coinciding with the Government’s appalling decision on Jerusalem. It will be a great honour to represent our community at this important event and I look forward to my time in the undivided and eternal capital of our people.” Ryvchin continued, “the challenges are becoming more pronounced. Protecting our way of life as proud Jews is a top priority for the ECAJ, and this includes the freedom to express our love of Israel and our Zionist identities. I am sure this gathering will give us even greater clarity and determination in this fight.”
Let us hope that Mr Ryvchin eschews the anti-historical and anti-factual and anti-international law terminology, ” occupied Palestinian territories”, “West Bank,” “illegal Jewish settlements,”and that he reminds participants of the provisions of the “Mandate for Palestine,” and its endorsement by Article 80 of the UN Charter. He can do this without taking a position on the terms of an end of belligerency accommodation between Israel and the people who call themselves “Palestinians.”
He might also mention that the Jews who lived in “Mandate Palestine” were officially known as “Palestinians.”
He could also remind participants that Arab-British military forces ethnically cleansed all the Jews out of the Old City of Jerusalem in 1948, the city all of which was to have been part of the Jewish National Home, as provided by the Mandate.
Mr Ryvchin , please don’t “shoot us in the foot.”
